For most of us, the New Year marks a period of time when we look ahead with fresh optimism and set our goals for the upcoming year.

This list of goals can be long—like eating healthily, exercising, planning a holiday, finding a new job, or starting a project—but the key to success is staying inspired and committed to making progress.

In the workplace, setting goals is crucial for staying motivated and focused, and once you've set a goal, belief, hard work, and determination are key to achieving it.

In our business we set goals and then agree the objectives to reach that goal. We then review the objectives weekly, monthly and quarterly and congratulate when objectives have been achieved and re-focus where necessary. This not only provides clear guidance on what we are looking to achieve but also provides plenty of opportunities to recognise 'good work' within the business'.'

Our Top Tips for Goal Setting:

MAKE GOALS CHALLENGING BUT REALISTIC
Make your goals aspirational but achievable so you don’t give up before you have even got stuck in! If your goal is achievable you can steadily move forward in the right direction. If you aim too high however, you may find yourself becoming disheartened if you start to feel as though you are not making adequate progress.

BREAK THE GOAL DOWN INTO SMALLER OBJECTIVES
Break your primary goal down into individual objectives and treat those objectives as building blocks which take you closer to your goal. This is also a great way to look back on your progress when you reflect back on your goals later in the year.

MAINTAIN A POSITIVE ATTITUDE
It's important to maintain a positive attitude towards achieving your goal; strong willpower and a strong mind will always push you on. Why not take a look at the 'building blocks' you have already achieved, to help you see how much progress you have already made towards your goal?

FINISH EACH DAY WITH A TARGET FOR THE NEXT
Make sure you finish each day with a target for the next, however small this may be and reward yourself for each goal that you hit. This will help you stay motivated and also give you direction to ensure you continue to make progress towards your goal.
